Pros and cons of custom-molded earpieces
Although many people assume that a custom molded earpiece will be more comfortable, this isn’t necessarily true. When some people wear a custom molded earpiece, the added contact with the ear canal can be highly irritating.
We recommend you first try our engineered shell as most people find our ear mold just as effective and often more comfortable than a custom shell.
Cutom molded earpieces only $79 more
If you believe that a custom-molded earpiece would better suit you, you can purchase your HearPod with a custom mold for only $79 more. Get a silicone mold from your physician or hearing center, or if you have a custom molded hearing aid already, send it to us and we will use it to make your custom HearPod.
Requirements
- Your current mold should be comfortable, and
fit snugly inside your ear.
- The size of the HearPod hearing aid you order should correspond
to the size of your current aid. The only exception is
if you choose a HearPod in a smaller size than the size of your
current hearing aid.
For example, if you have a CIC now and order a canal
size aid, your old aid will not give us enough information to properly
make the canal size mold. Therefore, please order the same size
or a smaller HearPod digital hearing aid so we can give you the quality fitting you deserve. All old instruments will be returned with your new custom HearPods.
If you have already purchased your HearPod digital hearing aid and would now like to have it fitted with a custom molded shell, download and print the upgrade form. Complete the form and send it to us with a silicone mold of your ear canal or your old aids along with your new HearPods. We will make custom HearPods for $79 per ear, plus shipping. All old instruments will be returned with your new custom HearPods. |
