Can a Hearing Loss Effect your personality?

A Hearing Loss has inevitable consequences that most won’t be able to escape.

Ask any one who has a hearing loss and they will tell you “no” it hasn’t changed them at all. Ask anyone who is close to a person with a hearing loss and they will tell you about enormous changes in behavior and attitude that has deeply changed who they use to be.

This is how it all starts.

Imagine you’re at work, with friends or especially with someone you’re close to.  You were having a conversation and you misunderstood what was being said because you didn’t hear a key word correct or you just filled in the part you didn’t get.  Come to find out what you thought you heard was completely off the wall.

How many times would this have to happen to you in a day before you started second guessing yourself?  Especially when making important decisions.  You have to start asking, what if I didn’t hear it right.

How would this effect your self esteem, self confidence, your behavior especially towards other people who you thought just don’t speak up?

Would you join in conversations knowing your comments could be very embarrassing to you because they were talking about apples and you thought they were talking about bananas?

Would you keep going out into social places like restaurants or group settings like family gatherings, knowing you would get half of what was said and the other half you may have completely got it wrong.

Would you become angry towards others and especially yourself and stop socializing and even cut off your conversations with those you are close to?

Please have your hearing checked especially if some one close to you brings it up.  If you have a hearing loss, get it corrected.  I guarantee it will change your life everyday for the rest of your life.
