Hearing Aids Have Changed My Life

I used to wear hearing aids only when I went out. This was to avoid being left out of conversations and to save myself from making embarrassing comments after misunderstanding the direction of conversations.

I know firsthand how frustrating it is to constantly misunderstand what people are saying. I know how awful it is having to ask anyone with a soft voice to please repeat every sentence…just one more time. This gets especially annoying when it’s someone related to you.

I now wear digital behind-the-ear directional hearing aids and love them.

What changed me and how I viewed wearing hearing aids forever, is what my son related to me about what his daughter said to him after she spent a weekend at my house. My 8 year old granddaughter asked her father why I didn’t like her.

She told her dad that she was trying to talk to me and I was ignoring her.

When my son told me this it was devastating to me.

I have five grandchildren and I can tell you they are the most important people on Earth to me. To think they or anyone I care about may have felt like that is just unacceptable to me on a very personal level. The worst of it is that I could have prevented it.

To tell you hearing aids have changed my life is an understatement. Communication everyday with everyone we have a relationship with is just too important to me to not wear a hearing device.

I have spoken to my granddaughter and she knows when she has something to say that I want to hear every word.

What more can I say? Please. If you have a hearing loss go get your hearing tested and if needed get a digital hearing aidDon’t let a hearing loss separate you from those you really care about. I promise when you hear better you live better.
